It sounds like a broken record, but Argentina’s crop estimates continue to decline amid persistent weather stress. USDA’s March 8 Supply & Demand Report will likely feature just fine tuning to the U.S. balance sheets, but its South American crop forecasts will garner a lot of market attention. As spring approaches, focus will shift to U.S. planting and acreage prospects. The spring crop insurance prices were established during February and could impact some of the undecided acres. Meanwhile, the transition from La Niña to ENSO-neutral is underway and El Niño could develop later this year. The speed of transition in conditions could impact U.S. summer weather.
