World food prices shot to their highest level in more than 10 years in October. Meanwhile, transportation bottlenecks continue to pressure the supply chain, which is helping fuel inflation. As inflation rises, the Fed maintained its “transitory” stance, saying it would start tapering monthly economic stimulus later this month but an increase in interest rates is still on the distant horizon. Russia says it will cap fertilizer exports through next spring, which could stir up the already volatile market. The condition of the U.S. winter wheat crop declined and drought covers 43% of winter wheat areas. We cover all of this and many other issues in this week’s newsletter, which you can access here.
