Corn and soybean basis improved over the past week.

CORN COMMENTS

The national average corn basis firmed 6 3/4 cents to 16 1/4 cents below December futures. The national average cash corn price firmed 21 cents to $4.02 3/4.

Basis is weaker than the three-year average of 11 1/2 cents below futures.

SOYBEAN COMMENTS

The national average soybean basis firmed 11 1/2 cents to 8 1/4 cents below November futures. The national average cash price firmed 29 cents to $9.89 1/4.

Basis is slightly better than the three-year average of 10 3/4 cents below futures.

WHEAT COMMENTS

The national average soft red winter (SRW) wheat basis inched up 1/4 cent to 66 3/4 cents below December futures. The average cash price dropped 6 1/4 cents to $5.11 3/4. SRW basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 49 cents under futures.

The national average hard red winter (HRW) wheat basis held at 52 3/4 cents below December futures. The average cash price dropped 3 1/4 cents to $5.32 3/4. HRW basis is weaker than the three-year average of 43 cents under futures.

CATTLE COMMENTS

Cash cattle trade averaged $187.61 last week, up 40 cents from the previous week. This week’s cash cattle trade is expected to be about steady. Last year, the cash price was $184.02.

Choice boxed beef firmed another $2.11 over the past week to $321.41. Last year at this time, Choice boxed beef prices were $307.50.

HOG COMMENTS

The average lean hog carcass price firmed 35 cents over the past week to $82.63. Last year’s lean carcass price on this date was $75.22.

The pork cutout value firmed $3.37 over the past week to $98.22. Last year at this time, the cutout price stood at $87.59.
