Basis for corn and soybeans continues to decline amid increased harvest and low water levels on the Mississippi River.

CORN COMMENTS

The national average corn basis slipped 1/2 cent to 21 cents below December futures. The national average cash corn price firmed 9 1/2 cents to $6.72.

Basis is weaker than the three-year average of 6 3/4 cents under futures.

SOYBEAN COMMENTS

The national average soybean basis dropped 6 cents to 15 3/4 cents below November futures. The national average cash price firmed 20 1/4 cents to $13.80 1/4.

Basis is nearly in line with the three-year average of 16 3/4 cents under futures.

WHEAT COMMENTS

The national average soft red winter (SRW) wheat basis firmed 3/4 cent to 35 3/4 cents under December futures. The average cash price fell 19 cents to $8.46 1/2. SRW basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 15 1/2 cents under futures.

The national average hard red winter (HRW) wheat basis held at 42 1/2 cents below December futures. The average cash price fell 20 1/4 cents to $9.27 1/2. HRW basis is weaker than the three-year average of 31 cents under futures.

CATTLE COMMENTS

Cash cattle trade averaged $146.23 last week, up $1.45 from the previous week. Cash cattle trade is expected to be firmer again this week. Last year, the cash price was $123.84.

Choice boxed beef slipped 40 cents over the past week to $246.66. Last year, Choice boxed beef prices were $280.02.

HOG COMMENTS

The average lean hog carcass price dropped 24 cents over the past week to $90.92. Last year’s lean carcass price on this date was $82.66.

The pork cutout value firmed $4.65 over the past week to $103.94. Last year at this time, the cutout price stood at $104.85.
