CORN COMMENTS

The national average corn basis firmed 5 3/4 cents to a penny below December futures. The national average cash corn price firmed 17 cents to $4.36 1/2.

Basis is slightly better than the three-year average of 3 1/4 cents below futures.

SOYBEAN COMMENTS

The national average soybean basis firmed 2 1/2 cents to 3 cents below January futures. The national average cash price firmed 6 1/2 cents to $10.04 3/4.

Basis is slightly better than the three-year average of 5 3/4 cents below futures.

WHEAT COMMENTS

The national average soft red winter (SRW) wheat basis slipped 1/2 cent to 45 cents below December futures. The average cash price dropped 32 3/4 cents to $4.96. SRW basis is slightly better than the three-year average of 46 3/4 cents under futures.

The national average hard red winter (HRW) wheat basis firmed 1 3/4 cents to 50 1/4 cents below December futures. The average cash price dropped 31 1/2 cents to $4.90 1/2. HRW basis is weaker than the three-year average of 41 3/4 cents under futures.

CATTLE COMMENTS

Cash cattle trade averaged $186.53 last week, down $3.29 from the previous week. This week’s cash cattle trade is expected to be weaker again. Last year, the cash price was $177.82.

Choice boxed beef dropped $8.65 over the past week to $306.94. Last year at this time, Choice boxed beef prices were $296.33.

HOG COMMENTS

The average lean hog carcass price firmed 17 cents over the past week to $88.27. Last year’s lean carcass price on this date was $72.21.

The pork cutout value dropped $4.89 over the past week to $97.26. Last year at this time, the cutout price stood at $86.82.
