Soybean basis drops on cash price improvement

CORN COMMENTS

The national average corn basis firmed 5 1/2 cents to 21 1/4 cents below December futures. The national average cash corn price firmed 8 cents to $3.94.

Basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 5 3/4 cents above futures.

SOYBEAN COMMENTS

The national average soybean basis dropped 5 3/4 cents to 29 3/4 cents below November futures. The national average cash price firmed 33 1/2 cents to $10.23 1/2.

Basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 4 1/4 cents above futures.

WHEAT COMMENTS

The national average soft red winter (SRW) wheat basis held at 89 cents below December futures. The average cash price firmed 13 1/2 cents to $5.00 1/4. SRW basis is much weaker than the three-year average of 56 1/2 cents under futures.

The national average hard red winter (HRW) wheat basis held at 56 cents below December futures. The average cash price firmed 2 1/2 cents to $5.25. HRW basis is weaker than the three-year average of 45 cents under futures.

CATTLE COMMENTS

Cash cattle trade averaged $184.01 last week, up $1.90 from the previous week. Cash cattle are expected to trade about steady this week. Last year, the cash price was $183.64.

Choice boxed beef dropped $3.21 over the past week to $298.17. Last year at this time, Choice boxed beef prices were $300.95.

HOG COMMENTS

The average lean hog carcass price firmed 26 cents over the past week to $82.42. Last year’s lean carcass price on this date was $83.11.

The pork cutout value dropped 31 cents over the past week to $94.10. Last year at this time, the cutout price stood at $97.76.
